The first Time I worked with Steve was ironically April 1st 2000, in the kitchen at HMP Camp Hill. We had met on a handful of occasions but never worked together, we both met in the gate lodge at 06:00 both not knowing what the day would bring. For Steve, a kitchen he’d never worked in and for me, a menu I had never cooked. We walked into the kitchen, I gave Steve a quick tour of the soon to close dilapidated kitchen. Steve started looking in the fridges expectantly for all the prep work that he said would have been done by the previous day’s team, but nothing!! His exact words were, do you know how in the sh*t we are! If we get this done in time it will be a miracle. Don’t worry I said, it will be fine, and it was. 14 years we then worked together until his retirement, every one of them different. We would bump into Steve and Sandra often and reminisce about the good times which we will miss, rest in peace Steve, a good friend and colleague
