In 1970, I was under training at the Royal Marines School of Music at Deal with Steve. We served together at the Band of HM Royal Marines Commando Forces Plymouth, which included many interesting foreign trips. We were on the same crew for Firefighting in Scotland 1977/78 and aboard SS Canberra during the Falklands War 1982. Finally, it was back to where it all started, albeit me at Staff Band RMSM and Steve as an Instructor at the School of Music. I was saddened to hear of Steve's passing, taking far too early.
